sorry but I don't get the comic, can some1 explain it to me? =)

I probably don't understand it because I'm not very good at english, or has something to do with FInal Fantasy, which I don't play.

I don't play final fantasy much, but I believe Pheonix downs are items in Final Fantasy that kill undead

One of the features of the FF series (in my experience) is that healing spells damaged undead.

For instance, in FF3 for SNES (Final Fantasy 6, in some circles), one of the early bosses is a ghost train. He's a tough fight at that level, but it you have a Life potion (resurrects you), it kills the train instantly.

A Phoenix Down is an item that can also be used to resurrect you.

keydar i warn u and all others:

dont play ffxi, past level 30 it becomes a level equivilant to the gear grind in wow at its worst and more then half the time u delevel due to losing 10% of the required exp to get to the next level every time u die.

i was a 57darknight/28thief (SATA+ some other move for uber damage^^)

i hit 60 1 time but deleveled after dying and never got to it agan cause my friends (quiet easily) convinced me to quit

I've never played a Final Fantasy game before but watched my cousin playing it over Thanksgiving and now I'm seriously considering getting the new one...

Because few things are quite as epic as the Rogue Tomato.

In the Final Fantasy games, a Phoenix Down is an item that you use to revive characters that have died. Also, in the FF games, casting healing spells or using healing items on undead characters actually hurts them instead of healing them. And since Phoenix Downs instantly bring a character back to life, they have the reverse effect on undead characters: instant death.

FFXI's grind is actually about average for an MMO. I think you've just been spoiled by WoW's super easy grinding. If you think FFXI's grind is bad, go play Lineage II. Now there's an MMO with insane grinding!

vemynal wrote:and more then half the time u delevel due to losing 10% of the required exp to get to the next level every time u die.

Actually, it's 8%, and you only lose that much if you go back to your homepoint. If you get a Raise, the amount you lose is considerably less. And even then, in the lower levels, you lose such a small amount of EXP that it can be regained in just two or three fights. And by the time you're high enough level for the EXP loss to actually be substantial, the Raise spells get so powerful that they return almost all of the EXP you lost. And if you're dying more than half the time, you're doing something horribly wrong.

EXP loss upon death is actually very common in MMOs. It's not just FFXI that does it.

i know u get raises from groups but from my experiance ffxi pugs > wow pugs for idiocy especially at the higher levels.
