Stonemaker Argument

Discuss anything about DLC

I like it, actually. More stuff like that would be great, science is fun.

IMO, i like it more then DLC, to be honest. I find it more true to the writer, rather then something he feels he needs to do every sunday, and he gets to express himself, rather then be confined to the world of warcraft.

I realize that alot of you have gotten quite used to sucking up to Keydar and DLC, but for awhile now hes sort of been confined to WoW, and its painful to watch at some times. Seeing him with out the shell of this game is like seeing a new person, and I cant wait to see what other cooky things go on in his head, rather then what people already know and are expecting the same thing of every weekend, like some sort of Garfield comic.

My wife liked this one. Took her a while to get where the logic flaw was.

There was another favorite argument in Debate we called the "Beef D/A". Essentially, if you could link anything to increased beef consumption or production, the argument chain lead to nuclear war.

Something along the lines of:
1) Increased beef consumption occurs when Republicans dominate the government.
2) This leads to an increased chance to start wars or uses of the military.
3) Which leads to an increased chance of nuclear war.

The shorthand sounds like this:
A reduction in auto registration fees will lead to nuclear war.

I was unfortunate enough to do some policy debate in high school as well. I always hated the nuclear war arguments since they were all fundamentally flawed. I know yours isn't exact, but I saw TONS that were similar. The coloration between two events (i.e. republicans in office and beef consumption) was assumed to be bidirectional when in fact it only flowed one way. Lower beef prices may cause increased consumption but will not cause a republican to be in office.

Anyway, as much as I hated it, we did the exact same thing. I remember one debate on school vouchers where the argument went 1) Less government money will be spent in schools 2) Less government spending leads to lower test scores 3) Lower test scores are indicative of worse education 4) those being educated in the country will one day run the country 5) stupid people are more likely to engage in Mutually Assured Destruction (nuclear war with another nuclear power). The logic is absurdly flawed, but as I've gotten older I realize that it's the same type of logic and reasoning that you usually see on major news networks.

heh.

1) cows releases a dangerous gas into the air that leads to thinner ozon layers
2) less cow meat eating = less cow farms
3) less cow farms = less gas
4) less gas = less CO2
5) less CO2 = nature having a harder time surviving
6) harder times = less nature
7) less nature = less life

so if you stop eating cow meat, you are technically killing animals and people.

i don't remember who said that, but it really made me lol

May be this will make more sense:

3) less cow farms = less gas
4) less gas = less CO2
5) less CO2 = less breathable air for plants
6) less breathable air for plants = harder for nature to survive

7) harder times = less nature
8. less nature = less life

so if you stop eating cow meat, you are technically killing animals and people.

We have PLENTY enough CO2 now, and with those damn fores in Amazonia, less and less forest to eat it.
Besides, THE PROBLEMS WITH THE COW AREN'T WITH THE CO2.It barely produce as much CO2 as us.
The problem is the METHANE they produce (which is far more dangerous than the CO2 as a greenhouse gas, and can't be destructed the natural way if I remember)

So I hope the guy who said that was kidding, or else he is stupid.

You DO know most of the CO2 processing is carried out by plankton and not, as is mistakenly believed, by tropical rainforests.

True.
But still, thinking that the plant will lack of CO2 in our century, is kinda laughable IMO^^ but I think that this "argument" was a joke.

I think that it will still take quite a while until he makes another Stonemaker Argument comic. After all, since all the facts look hard to find, and with WotLK coming up very soon, you can't really expect to see a new one in at least the upcoming two weeks.
