Then lore-wise, how would the same sword shatter 100+ times? No, I still personally think it should be like the quest for the scarab lord title thingy, everyone who gets the quest after killing Arthas has to pretty much race everyone else to get the quest done, then if you manage to finish it first, you get a extremely powerful weapon, a title, and a feat of strength. But that's just my idea

Why are they giving a legendary weapon to casters? Weapons for casters are just stat sticks. A legendary would benefit a melee class FAR more that it would benefit a caster. Yes, the mace would give a nice amount of SP, however, a melee classes' damage scales much better with their weapon, than a casters does with theirs.

3 outta 4 of my 80's are casters. Just contemplating why we need an orange stat stick.

From what I gather, while yes, the melee weapon legendary stuff probably would help melee a great deal, you also have to realize, that Blizzard has decided to nerf pretty much every healer in the game, meaning, your walking into new content, with your healings doing sub-par compared to what you might be used to, also, from what I've been told, the casters using this weapon, will be able to have a Change on Cast add-on that helps with casting or something, not just Stats.

Hmm, technically the Temptest keep weapons were legendary, and there, was two caster weapons, but your also forgetting the legendary bow, that anyone that could use bows could use, so, really, casters have only gotten one TRUE legendary that they get to keep, since the two in TK disapear once you leave it.

There hasn't been a healer-specific legendary since certain versions of Atiesh (and even then, Paladins/Shamans couldn't use it). This was overdue. Other than stats however, there are generally interesting equip effects that are put on these weapons.

Whatever the case, I can't wait until it's released. :)

My Druid could sure use a Legendary healing mace!
