in need of an idea? look here

Postby deacon377 » Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:09 pm

Hi all, I have an idea for a cartoon type box that has a political twinge to it.

If you've ever opened a paper you'll mostly likely see a badly drawn picture illustrating a persons frustration or anger about another persons actions (typically one in power).

The idea:

A cartoon image of ghost crawler with shovel, standing next to a bag. This bag is filled with paper, and on the shovel are two pieces of paper that read "WoW Lore and story line."

These papers are being shoved into a furnace that reads "star craft three."

The whole motivation behind this is my feeling that all the money made off world of warcraft is currently being funneled away from wow and into the star craft series.

WoW, due to its nature is a constant stream of money. It's much more than enough for salaries, so they use it for investments - other games, such as Starcraft II or Diablo III. Then, they will use money from those games for another projects, like Warcraft IV, new MMO, and so on, and so on.

silly goose, of course I know that...

I'm referring more to the fact that he's shredding vanilla wow's history and lore. I'm not pissed it's going to another project, I am however pissed that the trailer for cataclysm is a machinima, that all the weapons and armor will have the same problems (they're bland.) and that this next x pack is being forced into production so hard, so quickly the o ring on wow's anus might rip open at any given time.

In short, I just feel that another x pack this soon is a way of stoking the fire for more money....money that will doubtfully be ever seen invested into wow.

Anyhow, if you don't wanna do it please don't flame me as I didn't ask for your opinion, simply your ability to draw.

OH!

also, it will take a relatively small amount of money to change the landscape of wow, allow flying and lest we forget put some generic bosses back into play.

Of course, the next x pack will gross huge profits, while production will undoubtedly be kept at a minimum.

Well, this is forum, so expect other people to show their opinion. And I didn't flame you. I didn't even disagree with you.

Don't worry, they will make cinematic intro. First WotLK trailer was also a machinima.

Of course, it's a cataclysm. If something like this happened in real life and a bunch of historical viking buildings got destroyed, would you piss your pants and poop sheer anger?

Probably not.

I'm not pissed it's going to another project, I am however pissed that the trailer for cataclysm is a machinima

It's the informative trailer; it's not supposed to be fancy, it just shows us what's gonna be there, hence the enormous text. The opening CINEMATIC, however, will be CGI.

that all the weapons and armor will have the same problems (they're bland.) and that this next x pack is being forced into production so hard, so quickly the o ring on wow's anus might rip open at any given time.

We haven't even seen much of the new weapons and armor yet, chill your blood. And no, it's not being forced into production. Blizzard has been working on this -FAR- longer than any of us are aware; if you go into Ulduar, in the antechamber and go to the right, there is a big map of Azeroth. Look at it carefully. Kalimdor is cut IN HALF, and the wetlands are under water. And people say Blizzard doesn't give us Easter eggs.

In short, I just feel that another x pack this soon is a way of stoking the fire for more money....money that will doubtfully be ever seen invested into wow.

Everyone feels this way, but that's business unfortunately. At this point in time, with almost 13 million subscribers to -just WoW-, not to mention people constantly buying games like WC III, Starcraft, and Diablo, I'm fairly certain Blizzard is not teary-eyed for money.

Anyhow, if you don't wanna do it please don't flame me as I didn't ask for your opinion, simply your ability to draw.

As a note I'm not meaning this as flame, just trying to point out some logical bits and pieces.

Wrong again! :3 Like I said above, Blizzard has been working on this FAR longer than any of us know. They've most likely been working on Cataclysm since before LK was even released, just because of the sheer amount of work it will take to revamp old world. Old world was NOT flyable before.

I don't know where you get the idea that production is at a minimum for anything other than the Collector's Ed (it's supposed to be minimum anyway; it's special). I was able to walk into Wal-mart, pick up a copy of WotLK (day of release) right off the shelf, and walk out. I didn't even have to kill anybody.

Blizzard has to redesign ALL of Azeroth if they want it flyable. For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX93WpOrnEg

There's another, better video somewhere, but I can't find it. :[

I didn't have to kill anyone because I proved my worth in the Grand Arena that is Vanilla release. I killed 84 men and women that day and nobody dare disputes my reign... of chaos.

I sat upon my cold computer chair (this is Canada after all) while people futilely defended the ancients, and caught sheep. I fought my way to the top while others merely squandered in the shallow pit of loss, and now I have become what you know today as... Raptorbane. I have-- ... One sec. I have to build more burrows to continue text production.

Look, either do the art or go away.
I've read the replies and I'm not terribly impressed.
