I knew Nyte had what it took to be a great raid leader.

i have some questions.

1. what does DKP stand for?

2. why would one need DKP?

3. what is DPS charting?

4. what is an assist macro?

5. why is an assist macro important?

6. what does the number 10 have to do with assist macros?

7. are there really exams you have to pass to enter a raid?

ive never been on a raid, so im not sure if Keydar is joking about exams or not.

DKP stands for Dragon Kill Points. It's an old system that predates WoW and is used to distribute gear across raiding players. Basically you gain DKP whenever you attend a raid (or something, there are variations) and you spend it to buy your gear.
DPS charting just refers to monitoring your DPS numbers. In this case excessively. See old posts for Keydar's tries at threat charting =p
An assist macro is basically a macro with the /assist command in it. You don't need a macro, there's a button for it by default, check your shortcuts. You do need it so that trash goes down quicker, otherwise everybody has his own target and its hell for tanks, healers, etc.

EDIT : Exams are a joke of course. You are expected to show common sense however.

No, exams are not joke. They do exist.
Maybe not in exact sense as "exams" but more along the lines to demonstrate your familiarity with planned encouters for raid you want to attend.
At least in some pure-raiding guilds it is a mandatory that you do your homework (study bosses, proposed tactics, your designated work in raid) BEFORE encounter.
Failure to do so might lead to exclusion from raid and even guildkick.
But everything said above only applies to very serious raiding guids.

So, wait..
If the raid leader that issued a ready check was Nyte, then Narya took his clothes off because he thought...
Oh, Narya, you dirty, dirty gnome.
